Celeste is a biomedical engineer, the director of the Engineering Education Service Center and the award-winning author of:

Awards and recognition:

  • The National Academy of Engineering's Norm Augustine Award for Engineering Communications. The award is given to an engineer who has demonstrated the capacity for communicating the excitement and wonder of engineering.
  • The Rochester section of the IEEE Enginering Education Advocate Award.
  • The Boston Society of Civil Engineers Clemens Herschel Award for publications that enable teacher to take on the task of demystifying the engineering profession for middle school students.
  • The American Society for Engineering Education's Engineering Dean Council's Award for the Promotion of Engineering Education and Careers.
  • She is also listed on the National Engineers Week Web site as one of 50 engineers you should meet!

She has been providing fun and engaging presentations to teachers, mentors and middle school, high school and college students about engineering careers for the last 8 years. The talks are fun because most people don't know how much one can do with an engineering degree and/or how it can allow them to follow their dreams.

She has given keynotes or presentations about engineering careers for NASA, Purdue University, Northeastern University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Project Lead the Way Master Teacher and Counselor conferences, State University of New York, Rochester Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Department of Defense, University of Rochester, Monmouth University, Manhattan College, Bristol Community College, Oregon State University, Society of Women Engineers conference, New Jersey Institute of Technology, North Dakota State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Whitaker Foundation, Gender Equity Conference, Louisiana Tech University, Boise State University, Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, University of Kentucky, National Science Teacher Association conferences, Science Discovery Centers, Girl Scouts, career centers, numerous high schools and many more.
