Product Development

Do you have an idea for a new product or kit that other educators can use? Would a kit better disseminate your information to students or teachers?

The EESC can help you take your idea and make it a reality. Your idea may help:

  • Motivate students to pursue careers in science, math, and engineering
  • Provide educators with unique teaching tools and thereby enhance their teaching experiences
  • Improve our Nation’s scientific literacy
  • Engage parents and the public in shaping and sharing the experience of engineering and technology.

Product Development projects include but are not limited to:
  • Obtaining custom printing quotes
  • Working with printers
  • Packaging
  • Replication
  • Distribution
  • Marketing

How we can help:
Scenario 1: Over the last few years we have developed a process for distributing materials for our program. We now have enough materials that many educators or students could benefit from our work by simply purchasing a Do-It-Yourself kit but we don't have time to put it together.
Solution: The EESC can help you gather quotes and hunt down the resources to make your kit look professional and visually appealing.

Scenario 2: Our office has created and packaged material from our program. How do we begin selling it or distributing it?
Solution: The EESC can act as your distributor. We can warehouse your product, take online orders and handle all shipping to free up your time to create more materials!

Straight Talk:
Books and products are complicated projects to put together.

Complicated can mean many things, depending on the project. Often it means the project involves working closely with you to shape a book or kit on which you can agree to put your name.

Sometimes complicated means coordinating the work of multiple authors, researchers, and experts, or supervising the creation of original art or photography. Sometimes it means executing a highly elaborate design, or even incorporating non-print materials, such as CDs, LEGO's, electronics or other merchandise.

Almost always, however, complicated means that the project calls for concentrated, labor-intensive activity. And this makes most kits the kinds of projects that most programs cannot execute in-house. And yet, without such kits and products, the educational system would be missing many remarkable experiences.
