Engineering Education Rocks! is the theme for the EESC's 1st curriculum competition. Submit your best engineering activities and win prizes!
For the first time ever, K-12 engineering educators will have the chance to highlight their creativity and technical know-how. Categories range from elementary to high school.
Hands-on activities and project-based learning are fun and effective ways to help students learn and retain more math and science concepts. By choosing to teach engineering, educators can help students make the links between classroom learning, their everyday lives and the wider world. Project based learning can help students visualize abstract science and math concepts. Using hands-on activities, engineering design serves as the bridge to bring color to math and science concepts. This bridge makes our designed world more understandable, relevant and fun.
By promoting engineering as a viable career option, teachers also:
Help provide a stronger workforce in all fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
Help create a technologically literate people/society.
Provide students with the skills they will need to thrive in a technological society.

Winners in each category will receive a book of all winning curriculum and a certificate. In addition, we will also award each category with grand prize, second place and third place prizes:

Submission Instructions: Curriculum must be submitted electronically. Submission files may be in Microsoft Word, InDesign, or Acrobat. Other file formats may be acceptable but check with us before submitting your file.
Official Contest Rules:
Winning entries are those that best reflect creativity, innovation and student engagement. Winners are selected based on creativity, imagination, materials and the ability to inspire from among qualified entries.
Entries must include the activity name as the title, pictures, background, how activity relates to engineering, materials list, objective, procedures and student handouts.
All qualified entries received by 4:00pm PST on May 14, 2009 are eligible for the prizes.
No purchase is necessary, Must be 18 or older to enter.
This offer void where prohibited and is subject to all federal, state and local laws.
Previously published curriculum is not acceptable.
Odds of winning depend on the number of entries submitted.
If pictures are submitted, contestants must know the names and addresses of all identifiable people in their pictures. In addition, all people in the picture must know that their picture is being submitted with the curriculum in this contest.
All personal expenses incurred while producing the curriculum are the responsibility of the contestant.
Prizes must be claimed within 30 days of notification. If not claimed, the prizes will be forfeited.
Each winner must agree that his of her name, likeness, city, and winning curriculum may be used by the EESC for promotional and publication purposes without additional compensation. Prior to receiving prizes, each winner will be required to sign a release provided by the EESC to this effect and obtain a release or permission from anyone with proprietary rights in the winning curriculum. Refusal or inability to provide such releases will result in disqualification and all prizes will be forfeited.
The EESC reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest should any cause beyond the control of the EESC affect the security, administration, fairness, integrity of the contest, or for any reason it deems appropriate, at its sole discretion.

Each contestant may enter up to three activities per category.
