| The following camp directory lists some of the summer camps for K-12 students in engineering throughout the United States and Canada that are and were previously offered. The directory lists camps that have been hosted by Universities and research centers in the past. Please note that all camps may not be offered every year and that new camps and programs are currently being added. Old or unsuccessful programs are always being eliminated or modified. A substantial number of programs specifically target minorities, women, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. The programs offered change frequently, and this database is not comprehensive. This is only meant to be a guide to aid your search for engineering education preparation tools. Many of the programs offer scholarships and may have application deadlines as early as January. Engineering academies offered year-round
Marquette Engineering Outreach offers over 30 academies throughout the year for K-16 students and teachers, parents, and professional engineers. There are programs on Polymers, Robotics, Computer-Aided-Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. There are two academies just for girls: "Engineering...It's A Girls Thing" (ages 6-11) and "Engineering for Young Women" (ages 12-18).

Discover the Possibilities
Are you interested in exploring the many exciting fields of engineering? Are you a freshman, sophomore or junior in high school? Then Discover the Possibilities is for you. The programs are project-based so you will be working with our faculty in state-of-the-art laboratories. Discover the Possibilities emphasize a fun, individual contribution to a team project. You will have the opportunity to tour local industries and see what professionals in all areas of engineering are doing today. Topics covered are: architectural, biomedical, electrical, mechanical, computer, software and industrial engineering. Camp is residential and you’ll spend your evenings participating in fun activities with new friends.

Focus on the Possibilities
This intense, week-long summer camp is for students who will be sophomores, juniors or seniors. This program will challenge you to learn more about a specific engineering career field: architectural engineering / building construction; biomedical engineering; computer engineering / software engineering; electrical engineering; mechanical engineering / industrial engineering. You will get hands-on exposure by working in our labs on exciting projects. Working closely with MSOE faculty and current students is integral part of the program. Camp is residential and you’ll spend your evenings participating in fun activities with new friends.

Engineering Summer Program (ESP)
ESP is a six week residential program for high school students entering junior or senior year. We are specifically seeking students from groups traditionally under-represented in Engineering. African-American, Latino, Native American, Laotian, Vietnamese, Hmong, Cambodian, and women from all ethnic backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. Participants will explore career opportunities and take college preparatory courses in math, science, and engineering. All courses are taught by UW-Madison faculty and staff, using the UW-Madison facilities and resources. ESP will help students excel in their junior and senior year courses and get a jump start on knowing the excitement and rigors of engineering courses. While attending ESP students will live in a residence hall. Housing, meals, and program supplies are provided at no cost. Program counselors also live in the residence hall, providing academic and career advising as well as supervision.

Gateway to Engineering, Science and Technology
This program provides a foundation for scientific and technical fields of study for precollege students. Hands-on projects introduce students to the rewards and challenges of problem solving using applications of math and science. Intensive course work improves math and communication skills. Student's participation in this program tot als approximately 740 hours. The instructional staff is University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee faculty and staff, MPS and other Milwaukee area teachers, and community professionals. The activity focus is classroom instruction, labs, field trips, counseling and tutoring. This program emphasizes career exploration, academic advising, and college preparation.

The objective of this program is to introduce students from underrepresented minority groups to five major professions: medicine, engineering, dentistry, architecture, and law. Total student participation is 25 hours. Students attend five consecutive Saturdays. The instructional staff which conducts the workshops consists of faculty a nd staff from UWM, Marquette, MSOE, the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Schools and community professionals. The activity focus is classroom instruction, laboratories, field trips, and counseling. The program emphasizes career exploration, academic advising, financial aid information and college preparation.

Women in Engineering Program Exploratory Career Camp
The Women in Engineering Exploratory Career Camp is a one week interactive summer residence program designed to provide young women in grades 9-12 the opportunity to visit one of the top engineering schools in the country. Students are introduced to the many fields of engineering through hands-on experiences with UWP professors, alumni, professional engineers, and engineering students. The camp also includes awesome and exciting tours to some well-known manufacturing facilities.

University of Wisconsin Stout, College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
STEPS for Girls (Science, Technology, and Engineering Preview at Stout) summer camp
STEPS is a series of four one-week residential camps that provide an introduction to the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Campers participate in a variety of workshops that give them hands-on experience with high-tech equipment and processes. Outstanding professors from the Engineering, Technology, Science, and Math programs at UW-Stout teach the workshops. Campers also enjoy activities such as bowling, swimming, a pizza party, and karaoke. Camp counselors will supervise all activities. The camp is designed for girls between their 6th and 7th grade in school. Campers must have the consent of their parent(s) or guardians to enroll. An interest in (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering & Math is a plus, but not required.
