| The following camp directory lists some of the summer camps for K-12 students in engineering throughout the United States and Canada that are and were previously offered. The directory lists camps that have been hosted by Universities and research centers in the past. Please note that all camps may not be offered every year and that new camps and programs are currently being added. Old or unsuccessful programs are always being eliminated or modified. A substantial number of programs specifically target minorities, women, and other groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. The programs offered change frequently, and this database is not comprehensive. This is only meant to be a guide to aid your search for engineering education preparation tools. Many of the programs offer scholarships and may have application deadlines as early as January. Horizons
Horizons I (7th grade females) and Horizons II (8th grade females) are one-week programs for girls who have an aptitude and interest in math and science or engineering. Horizons I accepts approximately 140 participants with 70 young women scheduled for each of the two weeks. Application packets are provided directly to more than 500 schools throughout New York State, however, new schools – in or out of State - are welcome to request materials or nominate students using the downloads below. If you'd like to be on the mailing list, please contact the program to let them know you wish to be added to the data base. Horizons II will accept approximately 100 participants with 50 scheduled for each of the two weeks. Priority for inclusion in Horizons II will be given to those candidates who participated in Horizons I and continue to qualify for the program. Materials will be mailed directly to these participants at their homes provided the address from Horizons I continues to be valid. If the participant has moved, she should submit a new address to the program before January of the year following her Horizons I participation.

The CURIE Academy is a one-week summer residential program for high school girls who excel in math and science and want to learn more about careers in engineering. Day Campers are involved in a two week program full of creative, hands-on engineering and recreational activities. National Technical Institute for the Deaf
TechGirlz Camp for Girls with Hearing Loss
Girls with hearing loss who are entering 7th, 8th and 9th grade in fall 2008, and who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math can attend TechGirlz, a career exploration camp at Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, N.Y. Campers learn to think about jobs and careers in science and technology by building their own computer to take home, discovering the secrets of roller coaster design, investigating a crime scene, and becoming a commander on a simulated mission to Mars. The cost is $650 and includes tuition, housing in a residence hall on campus, and meals and snacks for the week. Parents are invited to opening and closing activities.

Camp RoboTech - Introduction to 2D Game Creation
Learn to create your own game, storyline, game objects and actions. No Programming experience is required. In this program, students will embark on an exciting journey to explore the fundamentals of 2D game authoring systems using an object- oriented approach. Build terrains, players, enemies and create complete games. Publish the games onto a CD that can be distributed to friends and family. Take home your game on a CD at the end of the program. Space is limited and is available first come, first served.

EDGE - Summer Engineering Workshop for High School Girls
Twenty-two high school girls from around the country take part in an engineering workshop tthat enhances the quality of life for bran damaged children taught by college faculty with the assistance of local high school teachers.
The workshop theme is "Toys and Tools for Disabled Children," which focuses on developing technologies to enhance the learning activities (toys) and communication skills (tools) of disabled children. The girls will be engaged in: Bioengineering, Robotics and Communications. Evening and weekend recreation activities will be included.
